To be an affluent mbira player requires one to have been possesed by the musical spirits of ones ancestors which usually happens when villages host it's own family of musicians who when possesed by their ancenstoral spirits belt out this joyful music of Africa. The sound of the mbira can now be heard fused with western music.

These musicians play this handmade mbira, or nail thumb piano, placed in a calubash surrounded by pop bottletops to enhance the vibration of the sound which they use to create lyrical tunes. This music festive is usually organised to appease spirits or to celebrate good harvests.
